Clinical Pastoral Education: Before my fourth and final year of seminary, I completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. I had the opportunity to spend the summer offering emotional and spiritual support to a wide range of patients in the hospital and really enjoyed the experience.
Hospital Visits, Funerals, Memorial Services: I’m also very comfortable doing hospital visits with sick/ailing parishioners and visiting those whom I don’t initially know. I have also participated in, and planned both graveside services and memorial services for members of the churches I’ve served.
Work with Deacons: In my last two calls (Ashland and Winnetka), I’ve served as the staff liaison to the Board of Deacons. In that role, I’ve advised the deacons on issues of pastoral care and have been the deacons’ primary staff support.
