I’m a pastor, husband, father and artist. I am also an INFP and an Enneagram 4, if that’s helpful. I am a creative pastor, currently seeking my third ordained call, and look forward to talking with you about how we could partner together in ministry. You can download my PIF or resume here.
I grew up in Washington state, and while I have lived all over the country (Idaho, New Jersey, Georgia, California, Oregon and Illinois), I know that deep down, I’m a “west coaster.” I got my BA in Religion at Whitworth University, and had my first ministry experiences while working at Presbyterian church camps during summers in college (Camp Sawtooth in Idaho and Calvin Crest in California).
After serving as a youth director in a small Presbyterian church in rural Idaho, I moved to New Jersey to attend Princeton Theological Seminary.
After three years at Princeton and one year at Columbia Seminary (where my wife, Sarah, received her Master of Divinity), I graduated with a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Youth Ministry. During seminary, I did my field education placement with college students at Princeton University, completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey and spent the summer of 2005 in the Middle East, courtesy of a grant from the Forum for Theological Education.
After graduating from Princeton, Sarah and I moved to the Bay area, where Sarah began her PhD program and I served for three years as an unordained Minister for Youth & Young Adults at Asbury United Methodist Church in Livermore, CA. During our time in Livermore, we got pregnant, but ended up losing our twin boys halfway through the pregnancy. After over 3 years in Livermore, I was ordained in November 2011 and accepted my first call to serve as Associate Pastor at the First Presbyterian Church in Ashland, Oregon. Just a month after moving to Oregon, our son, Caleb, was born. In August of 2013, I began my second call to serve as Designated Associate Pastor at Winnetka Presbyterian Church in Winnetka, Illinois. About a year after moving here, Sarah was called as the Acting Associate Pastor at Winnetka Congregational Church.
